In 1996, I asked poet Susan Palo Cherwien of Minneapolis to compose an anthem text directed toward the theme of “light” in the season of Advent, and this anthem was published in 1997 by Kjos Music. Susan’s lovely text, entitled As the Dark Awaits the Dawn, has also been set as a hymn by Carl Schalk under the same title. (ELW #261)
