I wrote this arrangement for Las Cantantes, a fine women’s vocal ensemble at the University of New Mexico, and later made this SATB setting for church choir. It uses the words of the old spiritual – the melody has been rather freely altered and modified. Starts with a slow introduction and then launches into an up-tempo gospel anthem. Optional hand claps and ad lib vocal solo. A rousing concert-closer.
